Time to make the matzah

PEORIA — The start of Passover is just about a week away, and to get ready, some Peoria kids learned how to make one of the holiday's traditional foods — matzah.

They also practiced having a seder, which is the Passover meal.

Both are traditions the rabbi says are important for kids to learn.

"It's very important to get the children involved into the Jewish tradition.  They are the future of our generations, so at least they get an excitement about it and move it on to their children and their children's children,” said Rabbi Eli Langsam of the Chabad of Peoria.

The kids made about 50 pieces of homemade matzah Sunday.

Passover begins next Monday at sundown.
